Naomi Kawase

Naomi Kawase (Nara, 1969) grew up with her grandfather and grandmother after her parents' divorce, and this has had a huge impact on her creative endeavours. Her films, in particular the short ones, are often autobiographical and addressing her relationship with the father she hasn't known for a long time. Her first films were 8-mm, today she uses a digital camera.
