Catherine Malabou is a French philosopher and Professor at the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy at Kingston University in London, as well as at the European Graduate School and the department of Comparative Literature at the University of California in Irvine. She obtained a PhD under the mentorship of Jacques Derrida, her dissertation later becoming her first book titled The Future of Hegel: Plasticity, Temporality, Dialectic (L’Avenir de Hegel: Plasticité, Temporalité, Dialectique) in 1996. She is most well-known for developing the concept of plasticity, which she did precisely through the reading of Hegel’s philosophy, later incorporating into it the field of contemporary neuroscience. In her later works, she also discusses the political ideas of anarchism.
