Jija Sohn

Jija Sohn is a performer whose work investigates how cultural diversity can be transformed into a universal value. In 2015, she was selected for the Moving Forward project, during which she developed the Geisha’s Miracle (2016) performance. In 2018, she developed her slightly autobiographical new piece Kyabajo (2018), exploring the estrangement found in the submissive role of a Japanese hostess. Between 2017 and 2019, she was part of the international project Performing Gender – Dance Makes Differences. She performed in Ivo Dimchev’s X-on (2013) and Dries Verhoeven’s Guilty Landscapes (2018). Her current collaboration with Andrea Zavala and Lucy Wilke is supported by Dans Brabant (Talent Development PLAN Brabant).
