MANIA AKBARI
When Mania Akbari at this year’s edition of the Isola Cinema Festival presented her first motion picture 20 Fingers (2004) the debates – predominantly provoked and fostered by the authoress herself – mainly evolved around the issue of the cultural concept of this conceptual miniature. In the seven shots, seven actions, we witness seven conflict situations between the same woman (the scriptwriter and director also in the leading role) and man. The man systematically embodies the voice of the moral majority, whereas his partner consistently draws attention to the rotten (as well as harmful) aspects of blind tradition, with every conversation deriving from the actual examples from real life (love) and eventually going back to them.
