MERCEDES PEÓN

Mercedes Peón (b. 1974) is one of the youngest and most prominent of the most appreciated new Galician traditionalists. She burst onto the international music scene with her first album “Isué”, featuring recordings of original Galician ethno music, which manifested her contemporary spirit at that time already. Her debut was followed by a BBC Radio nomination for extraordinary achievement, which led to her performances at numerous concert halls and the most prestigious European festivals (she performed at Druga godba in 2003). Mercedes released two more albums with her own Galician group, which were both received with euphoric reviews. The temporary end of this creative path was marked by her decision to pursue an independent project, which will be presented in Ljubljana.
