Decoding Resilience

The installation is the final destination of a performative journey conceived by Samar Zughool, Behnaz Aliesfahanipour, Safa Saad and Sammar Al Kerawe. Samar and Behnaz cleaned the shoes of passers-by at various locations in Slovenia, engaging in conversation with their owners. While cleaning shoes, they discussed the role of integration and Slovenian language skills for those who have the status of a foreigner or are otherwise confronted with the role of a foreigner in this country. After the cleaning, the artists took voluntary donations and photographed the cleaned shoes, which were then sent to Safa and Sammar. The two artists transformed the photographs of the shoes into images and sketches filled with statements and comments from their owners.
