Between 19 and 30 October, the Škuc Gallery invites high school and university student groups to take a guided tour of the Corneous Stories exhibition showcasing Slovenian and international artists. Their works deal with the topic of horn (skin, nails, hair) and ask what we see if history and the present time are viewed from the perspective of cosmetics and makeup, which the society treats as “women’s labour”, passion, or even duty.

The exhibition reveals surprising connections between the beauty, film, chemistry, and automotive industries, and various forms of exploitation (forced, migrant, and precarious work). Its diverse content provides numerous starting points for debate. As the artists are using contemporary technologies, by which they are both inventing and testing new artistic expressions, many of which are collaborative and interactive, Corneous Stories offer young people a lively and inspiring experience of contemporary art.

Guided tours may (depending on your wishes and available time) include a tour of the exhibition, a discussion on a chosen artwork, and/or a creative workshop, focused on either visual or theatre art techniques. The third workshop option is focused on activist art about migrant labour. Guides: Nevena Aleksovski, Sara FabjanTea Hvala, and Sara Šabec.
