The book Imperfect: myths of female mental illnesses and their treatment offers a psychological, feminist, and political analysis of the traditional patriarchal perception and treatment of women's normality, making it a unique contribution in literature written in the Serbian language. In this work, the author Lidija Vasiljević, through extensive analysis of literature, practices, and cases from psychotherapeutic experiences, deconstructs the strategies of pathologizing women within psychiatry, psychotherapy, and the social context. Through a systematic approach that chronologically covers the period from the first distinctions between normal and pathological, through the analysis of hysteria and depression and so-called typical female symptoms, to today's complex and multi-layered diagnostic categories of eating disorders, sexuality, boundary-setting, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and other (both real and imposed evaluations), the book offers a different perspective on women and their psychological health.
