Nobody Whistles Anymore
A series of events will open on 22nd of May at 8 pm with the performance Nobody whistles anymore (Performing Gender - Dancing in Your Shoes), created as part of the three-year European development project Performing Gender. With the idea that language of dance can help people to understand different gender identities, participants aged 19 to 83 explored the role of social genders and sexual orientation in contemporary heteronormative society through performance, dance, movement and physical practice under the guidance of dancer, choreographer Vita Osojnik and director and dramaturge Brina Klampfer. Workshops, which were also open to people without experiences in dance and theater, encouraged the development of local audience and intergenerational connections. Participants were attentive to power relations, representations and stereotypes that often arise spontaneously in artistic processes and in everyday life. They responded to them from a feminist perspective and with a horizontal approach to community creation.
