Anat Ben-David
Anat Ben-David is a pioneer of the video-performance genre
in Israel, performing and exhibiting from an early age. "Physical
performance and visual arts have always been the focus of my life. At a very
early stage I knew that I wanted to combine my talents, and started thinking of
new forms of art." She graduated with distinction from the School of
Visual Theatre in Jerusalem in 1995 and was awarded several prizes and grants,
which allowed her to produce five full-length experimental theatre shows at
HABAMA theatre in the following four years. Being an all-round talent, Anat has
written, directed, performed, filmed and technically engineered most of her
works alone. Since 1999 she has been working and living in London, where she
investigated new digital tools for her video work and completed an M.A. in Fine
Arts at Goldsmith College in 2003. Popaganda has been performed solo and as a
support for musicians like Chicks on Speed and Peaches on their European tours.
She has performed and exhibited e.g. at Tate Britain (London), Künstlerhaus
Bethanien (Berlin), Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, Transmediale
(Berlin), Tel Aviv Museum, and House of Artists (Jerusalem).
