Waheeda Malullah

Born in 1978, Waheeda Malullah lives and works in Bahrain. On completing her studies in design at Bahrain University, she started to investigate – within visual ar t – the new roles being adopted by contemporary Islamic woman. Her f indings reveal that despite widespread repression, Bahraini women are still willing to laugh. Waheeda Malullah has st aged several exhibitions in the Near and Middle East (including Egypt and Kuwait) as well as in the USA, Germany, Denmark and France. Dunja Kukovec
