Clare Cooper
Clare Cooper (b. 1981) draws musical inspiration from the imagination of Marilyn Crispell, Sun Ra and Jimmy Hendrix, whereas as regards the harp she very much appreciates funk harpist Dorothy Ashby, experimental minimalist Rhodri Davies and the legendary Harpo Marx. In her solo debut Gut (2004, Now), she presented improvisations of compositions for piano by Alice Coltrane to whom this year’s City of Women Festival is dedicated. Over the recent years she has performed in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. In addition to being a musician, Clare Cooper is a 3D animator, lecturer and co-organiser of the NOW now festival of spontaneous music and experimental film. Helena Božič
