Alice Schmid

Alice Schmid's documentaries are always focused on children from all over the world. She made several films – on child abuse (Say No, 1993), on kid-soldiers in Liberia and Sierra Leone (I Killed People, 2000), and in Every Drop for the Future (1996) she accompanied a Bolivian girl on her two-hour walk to school. Letters to Grown-Ups (1994) is a film on children in the Cambodian mine fields. The Children from the Napf is Schmid's first feature film and thorough which, she returned to Switzerland and Mount Napf which is the epicentre of her earliest experiences. It's also the place where she wrote her first novel Dreizehn ist meine Zahl (Thirteen Is my Number, 2011), a bestseller that won her the Literature Award of Central Switzerland.
