ČIPkarnica
Čipkarnica presents ČIPke, Initiative for Women with a Sense for Technology, Science and Art, in the light of group and individual projects created in the context of the workshops and open laboratory. Other than research in the field of inequality in technical professions, ČIPke are mainly involved in the application and provision of practical skills and knowledge. For individuals, a direct experience results in a more long-lasting effect in the independent and informed use of technology. ČIPke acquire basic technical skills on multi-day workshops mentored by acknowledged local and international geek girls, computer programmers and artists who encourage the participants in individual and group work. The participation in the ČIPke workshop doesn't require any previous knowledge, only a curious eye, ear and eager fingers. Free workshops provide free and open source programming as well as all basic materials. Indeed, we strive to eliminate social discrimination and the so-called digital divide among different social strata. Because we want to create a safe place where not even the most basic technological question will be ignored or even ridiculed, the workshops are intended mainly for women. In addition to multi-day workshops, the ČIPke participants have open access to the Rampa Laboratory on Kersnikova 4 in Ljubljana, where ČIPke Advice, one-day workshops From ČIPke to ČIPke and Open Laboratory are held every Monday at 5 pm. ČIPke promote the ethics of collaboration according to the DIY (Do It Yourself) and DIWO (Do It With Others) principles. (Ida Hiršenfelder, Saša Spačal)
