Eliza Hittman
Eliza Hittman was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. She graduated in theatre and drama at the University of Indiana. Later, she switched to film studies at the California Institute of the Arts. As a director, she drew attention already in 2010 with her short film Second Cousins Once Removed (2009), while all her feature films premiered at the Sundance Festival. In 2017, she was awarded best director there, namely for the film Beach Rats (2017), and in 2020, she got a special jury prize for her last full-length feature film Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020). The latter was also selected for the competition section of the 70th Berlin International Film Festival (2020), where she won the Jury Grand Prix – the Silver Bear.
