I win my freedom by cutting back on my sleep.
– Sylvia Plath
This “pop opera for one female voice and nine actresses” is a reflection of Sylvia Plath’s life and career. The great American poet is imprinted in collective memory as an artist and mother who refused to choose one over the other and, like many other female artists-mothers, paid a high price for her decision. Delving into her short stories, essays and diaries, director Fabrice Murgia created a moving performance that is an original intertwinement of theatre, film and music.
Performed by: Valerie Bachau, Clara Bonnet, Solene Cizeron, Vanessa Compagnucci, Vinora Epp, Léone François, Magali Pignalut, Ariane Rousseau, Scarlet Tummers
Music by: An Pierlé, Koen Gisen, Hendrik Lasure, Casper Van De Velde
The performance will be followed by a discussion with its makers (in English).
