After completing her Audio-Visual Communication Studies in Barcelona, Carla Simón continued her education at the London Film School, where she wrote and directed the documentary, Born Positive, and the short fiction film, Lipstick. The Summer of 1993 is her feature film debut. She established the organisation Young for Film! and collaborates at the film-educational project Cinema en Curs.
