Text and Contexts from the Decentered History of Women’s and Feminist Resistance
The workshop leads attendants through the process of intertextual and contextual reading, deconstructing and translating texts (and ideas) from local/ regional/ peripheral/ languages, which paint history of women's and feminist resistance outside of the (Western) centers of feminist knowledge production. After presenting the upcoming book project (Texts and Contexts from the History of Feminism and Women’s Rights: East Central Europe, Second Half of the Twentieth Century, CEU Press) the 4 editors take the workshop attendants step by step through the thought process of contextualizing texts, translating concepts and understanding historical contingencies. We will examine several concrete pieces of texts such as excerpts from articles, poems, political speeches etc. The workshop is suited for students, scholars and all engaged readers.
The workshop will be followed by a public tour of the exhibition Archaeology of Resistance in ŠKUC gallery at 18:00
This event is part of “Archeology of Resistance: Corrective for Future” program that is curated by Iva Kovač.
