We're Opening the Archive!
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first City of Women festival, which was established in 1995 as a response to the repatriarchalization of Slovenian society after the transition from Yugoslavia to independent Slovenia. Each year, curatorial teams have dedicated the festival to specific themes such as decolonization, deconstruction of female myths, uprisings, and revolutions... They were interested in non-hierarchical, sisterly artistic practices, the legacy of which we still practice today!
This time, we are opening the archive and highlighting the significant names of individuals and groups that have shaped the festival's history over the past 30 years. We will also take a peek behind the scenes of festival events!
Follow our Facebook and Instagram profiles for insights into the festival happenings of the last 30 years.
