Engeli Broberg

Engeli Broberg is a movie director dealing with the topics of loneliness, exclusion and identity. These topics are explored in her film “Happy End” (2016 – 2018), following the lives of characters in Nordic homes for the elderly, and her film “The Last Dance” (2018) through the perspective of retired dancers identifying solely with their former profession. “Gabi” considers these topics through the eyes of a child who refuses to be put in a box. Coming from a family of dancers, Engeli has a sharp eye for movement. She believes that the moments before we speak are usually the most powerful and much more telling than anything that is expressed with words. Her narration therefore always focuses on silence, responses and body language.
