Inês Jacques & Eduardo Raon
Inês Jacques initiated her musical studies in 1994. She played with recognised musicians like the pianist Rui Caetano and the Gualdino Barros Quartet. Currently, she is studying jazz singing under Joana Machado, and is also active as a choreographer and dancer. She studied dance in Lisbon and Holland, and has performed and collaborated with such individuals as Vera Mantero, João Fiadeiro, Paulo Ribeiro, Francisco Camacho, Emmanuelle Huynh and Kirk Woolford. As a dancer she regularly collaborates with choreographer Tiago Guedes and has also worked with the Igloo collective. Her live music dance piece Good Girls, premiered at Lisbon’s Centro Cultural de Belem (CCB) in 2004, and in 2005 she created the Renée Adorée “live cinema” stage project.
Eduardo Raon has a classical musical education, but is nevertheless a versatile musician. It was perhaps due to his interest in electronic music – as well as rock, jazz and improvisation – that he was something of a black sheep at Lisbon’s Conservatory of Music, where he studied the harp. In 1997 Eduardo Raon became a founding member of the Portuguese rock group Bypass, which, through his dense guitar work, has served to extend his alternative rock interests. More recently, he has played his harp, and vibraphone, with the band Hipnótica. Eduardo Raon has also studied fine arts at Lisbon University’s Faculty of Fine Arts.
