Kazuko Hohki
Poet, performer, and musician Kazuko Hohki was born in Tokyo and came to England in the late seventies. In 1982, she founded the Japanese female pop performance group Frank Chickens, which became famous thanks to its chart hit »We Are Ninja«. The Frank Chickens released five albums and toured worldwide. Hohki also made several albums with Steve Beresford and his piano orchestra, including Kazuko Hohki Chante Brigitte Bardot. In the late eighties, she had her own show ‘Kazuko’s Karaoke Club’ on British TV; she has also directed documentary TV features and is a founding member of the Japanese American Toy Theatre of London.
