Nika Autor
Nika Autor completed her bachelor's and master's degree at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana and her doctoral thesis at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Her work is primarily based on experimental videos and documentaries, film essays, photography, collages, paintings and spatial video installations. In her work, she explores the invisible and inaudible aspects in relation to tacit knowledge of »forgotten history« and »silenced modernity.« Her work focuses on the creation of particular constructions of collective memory and personal, oral narrative. She explores asylum and migration politics, workers' rights and the politics of memory. Nika is part of the Newsreel Front, an informal collective of workers in the field of film theory and artistic practice. Her work has been exhibited in many and various international museums, galleries and festivals. These include: 57th Venice Biennale, Jeu de Paume, MAXXI Rome, at the Stanford University, MSUM+MG, Museum of Contemporary Arts in Ljubljana, MIMA, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art; Tokyo Photographic Art Museum; GARAGE, Museum of Contemporary art Moscow; TIFF Cinematheque, Toronto International Film Festival; IFFR, International Film Festival Rotterdam, JEUNJ, Korea, VIENNALE in Austria, ARS Electronica, LENTOS Kunstmuseum in Linz itd.
