The Sisterhood of the Proud Dolphin

The Sisterhood of the Proud Dolphin is a feminist reading group, as well as a community of accomplices who share a common recognition of social problems. It came about from a perceived necessity of introducing feminist thought and politics into the confusion of the everyday. The subversion of traditionally feminine roles brings us to the kitchen, where the domestic shuffling with chores and the emotional labour of women meet. Here we will introduce new meanings into this common scene of domination: solidarity, the common preparation and sharing of food, the joyous meeting of all, the encounters with feminist theory. We aim at developing embodied and situated knowledge, which is not afraid of facing the personal sources of the political. Our aim is to affirm the (radical) feminist questioning of hierarchical structures and power relations, including those beyond questions of gender and sexuality.
