Girl Monster is a long-term project curated by the members of Chicks on Speed: Melissa Logan and Alex Murray-Leslie. Chicks on Speed are not only a band but also a record label, releasing recordings by Le Tigre, Kevin Blechdom, Ana da Silva of The Raincoats, DAT Politics, Susanne Broksch, Kids on TV, Anat Ben-David, and Angie Reed.

The City of Women will present the seventh Girl Monster edition, dealing with the topic of nudity. The project combines music performances, a lecture, performances, video art, and DJ sets, and the curators define it as a gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art), the ideal of the historic avant-garde movements. It has strong political and feminist references, supports female artists, initiates interdisciplinary and poli-genre actions, with provocative effects. In Girl Monster the art subject is transformed into a social event, which functions as a platform that understands the work of art as a synthesis of various art fields, summarized under the slogan ‘art as life’.
