Fahrije’s husband has been missing since the war in Kosovo, and along with their grief, her family is struggling financially. In order to provide for them, Fahrije starts selling food products to a supermarket, but the people in the traditional patriarchal village where she lives disapprove her ambition and efforts to empower herself and other women.
While struggling with her new company, Fahrije continues dealing with the trauma of the search for her husband, having to identify the remains of bodies brought from the mass graves. Only when other widows realise that they too have to consider a future without their husbands, they start to warm up to the idea and possibilities of Fahrije’s business.
While the story is quite painful and sad, it is very empowering; it is about beginnings, change, and how funny life can be in the most serious moments.
