Holy Smoke
Direction: Jane Campion
During her trip to India, a young Australian (Kate Winslet) falls under the influence of a charismatic guru and joins his sect. The family brings her back home and hires an American expert (Harvey Keitel) to convince her to leave the cult and deprogram her brainwashing. The self-confident psychologist and the stubborn girl are isolated in a cabin in the desert for three days; at this point, the film shakes off the playful tones and transforms into a bold and serious analysis of relations between genders and along the way successfully undermines concepts such as home, family and religion.
