François, a kind and ordinary young carpenter, is happily married with Therese. Their love is complemented with two small children. One day, François meets another woman, Emilie, and falls in love with her, but nevertheless still loves his wife. He is so ecstatic over the recognition that his love is so immense to be enough for two women that he shares his feelings with his wife. She appears to surrender to her husband’s happiness and accept this weird situation. A masterpiece by the legendary “grandmother of the French New Wave” Agnes Varda; awarded Jury Grand Prix in Berlin 1965.
