Makedonski Merak & Petranka Kostadinova & special guest

Do not make a(nother) major mistake and presume that Macedonia is
only the country of top gypsy musicians. Its musical pot overflows with the
exciting sounds of various musical cultures. We most often neglect its central,
Macedonian one, even though it can also show off with excellent clarinettists,
accordion players and singers. It is high time for us to correct our past
neglect by presenting one of the most eminent Macedonian ladies of world music.
The top Balkan women singers are not only based in Bulgaria. You can also find a
number of them in Macedonia.
Petranka Kostadinova is, compared to the legends Vaska Ilijeva and Esma
Redžepova, a singer of a earlier generation. She has been performing for thirty
years on every continent. She has released a number of records and cassettes.
Her voice is (truly) great. Anything else? On stage she will be backed by
Makedonski merak, one of the strongest Macedonian instrumental units, led by
accordionist Milan Zavkov, the right hand of ethno superstar Ferus Mustafov on
his way West. She may also be joined by a very very special guest. A must for
all fans of Balkan sounds!
