My Name Is Ann
My Name Is Ann is
more than a dance-musical-visual project. Ann’s world is an authentic universe,
a fictional anti-world of contradictions, both musically and conceptually. As
if “recycling life into musical lightmotifs,” stories of fiction and reality
express motifs ranging from activist to traditional and utmost intimacy , blurring
the line between banality and an intellectual understanding of the world.
Experimental electronic music combines elements of electropop, breakcore and jungle,
passing from classical instruments to synthesizers or children’s instruments,
and, of course, voice. Traditional song samples and fragments of audio reality,
recorded on portable mp3 players, create an inventive sonic image, complemented
by catchy visual imagery.
My Name Is Ann is an electro trio comprising Lenka Moravkova a.k.a Knoflenka, Svatava and Šarka Kobzova. Lenka
is a composer, musician, and journalist. She has collaborated with a plethora
of trans-European artists, from Phon.o (label Shitkatapult,
Berlin), to the remixer Jan P. Muchow and the
Swedish sound artist Akita.
She created the musical score of Jan Bohuslav’s film Conscience (Svedomi,
2004), screened at the Cannes IFF in 2005. Svatava Kobzova is a dancer,
choreographer, and pianist. Since 2005 they have been working together to create
the project My
Name Is Ann.
