Aleksandra Gačić

Aleksandra Gačić (she/her) is a literary critic who, in her work, focuses mainly on African literature, depictions of the foreign in the Slovenian literature - i.e. literary imagology, fictionalised topics of racism, otherness, migration, as well as post- and decolonial works that serve as one of the tools in her literary-critical approach. Her reviews are regularly published in the publications Dnevnik, Vrabec Anarhist, Mentor and Literatura. In 2016, she came up with and curated the series on African literature at the Vodnikova domačija in Ljubljana. In 2021, together with Maša Kagao Knez and Dalanda Diallo, she co-created the Africa Initiative, a literary performance initiative that strives for an interdisciplinary approach to the performing of African realities and has so far staged three performances based on literary works. As an event moderator, she regularly collaborates with the Ljubljana City Library, Fabula festival - Literatures of the World, Itn. and several Slovenian publishing houses.
