Archeology of Resistance: exhibition opening
Historically there has been an abundance of feminist organising and activity done by women* aimed toward peace and against oppression. Women have ignited and participated in peaceful and armed struggles globally. Art practices have accompanied, communicated, and documented many of those struggles. The group exhibition “Archeology of Resistance” in ŠKUC Gallery, the solo show by Zuzanna Herzberg in Mala galerija, the peripatetic performances by Amanda Guitiérrez and Alicia Grullón, as well as a series of discursive events and workshops during and in the aftermath of the, are all gathered under the title “Archeology of Resistance: Corrective for Future”. The program will present an open-ended repository of resistance archives, bringing forth stories and voicing repressed narratives collected by artists, cultural workers and researchers, supported by interviews and documents, and affective performances of resisting different types of coercion, be it state or non-state. “Archeology of Resistance: Corrective for Future” will unfold during the whole of October and announce the theme of the jubilee thirtieth edition of the City of Women festival next year.
