Maria Chuykova
The Russian artist and curator Maria (‘Masha’) Chuykova is one of the most
active figures on Moscow’s contemporary art scene. After graduating from the
Moscow Institute of Architecture, she had her first exhibition at the Moscow
avant-garde club KLAVA in 1989. Since then, she has been creating and
expressing herself in a wide range of media, including installations,
photography, videos, painting, sculpture, performance, conferences, and …
dinners.
Much of her conceptual art work deals with the stereotypes surrounding the role
of women in society. The kitchen is her preferred domain of research and
action.
