Rebeka

“She
saw herself, as in a dream, standing in front of the door holding in her hand a
wooden rocking chair. And a sack pushed in her hands while leaving. She knocks,
frightened, and waits. She hears the grate of the lock and in the next moment,
she is surrounded with people she doesn't know.«

The performance speaks of a woman's character, from the novel One Hundred Years
of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The portrait of Rebeka is exposed
through situations in different scenes, settings and relationships between the
performers and their media: dance, music and text.
During the performance, these three media intertwine, they complement,
sometimes move away and avoid each other. Mutual reconciliation and shifting
away of the three media points to, sometimes dictates, different relationships
or solitude which work on the phenomenon (a subjective phenomenon, torn away
from the essence, now existing only in consciousness) of Rebeka, from her very
banal version to an almost mythical image of a woman.
Rebeka premiered last June in Poznan.
