CHRISTINE SEHNAOUI

Christine Sehnaoui (1978), saxophonist of Lebanese descent living in France, is one of the constituent links in what evolved into the contemporary community of improvisers gathered around the rouba3i collective, the Irtijal Festival, and the publishing house Al Maslakh (Slaughterhouse), who form bonds with an international diaspora of outstanding improvisers amidst a quasi-war atmosphere. Christine is an autodidact, which purifies her saxophone of any historical sound admixtures and imbues it with an inquisitive spirit, oriented towards weaving a convincing and unique musical language, which subsequently comes to be even more fruitful through her cooperation with other musicians, including Mazen Kerbaj, Sharif Sehnaoui, Mats Gustafsson, Michael Waisvisz, Michael Zerang, and Tony Buck.
