Destroy, She Said (Détruire dit-elle)
Presenting
the author at the peak of her powers and in all of the dimensions of her unique
film signature, this is Marguerite Duras’ second full-length feature film as a
director and is based upon her eponymous novel from the same year. It takes
place in a hotel located on the edge of a forest. We watch carefully
constructed, static scenes through which – like hypnotised ghosts – male and
female protagonists are walking and bumping into each other, and – together
with the viewers – asking themselves where the literature ends and the film
begins (and vice versa), where love ends and revolution begins (and vice
versa).
Direction and screenplay: Marguerite Duras; Language: French with
