Jule Flierl

Jule Flierl builds on the history of TonTanz (ToneDance), a concept that establishes the voice as a dancing limb, as formulated first by Valeska Gert in the late 1920s. She studied contemporary dance at SEAD-SALZBURG and choreography at EXERCE Montpellier as well as the somatic voice method “Lichtenberger Method”. Her performative and theoretical work focuses on the impact of voice for the historically muted dancer. She has worked with Martin Nachbar, Gintersdorfer/Klassen, Tino Sehgal and Meg Stuart, among others. Her solo performance Störlaut (2018) was featured at the German Tanzplattform in 2020. She hosts the voice performance series From Breath to Matter in Berlin.
