The Taste of Herbs – Biogarden and Natural Aesthetics
Permaculture
is designed with the aim to create a sustainable living environment by
imitating natural patterns, combining ecology, landscaping, organic farming, architecture,
and agroforestry. Metka Maček wishes to transform her herbal estate in
Dolenjska into a permacultural “centre” which would host domestic and
international guests interested in permacultural cultivation and medicinal
herbs. Beside her versatile gardens full of the rarest herbs and plants, Metka
has also reconstructed an 1856 barn suitable for accommodation. This practical
training programme for teenagers aims at introducing permaculture and various
endemic and rare herbs. The intensive one-day workshop will include a presentation
and tour of the herb gardens, an introduction to medicinal herbs, their
cultivation and preparation, lunch in the garden, and tea-making with freshly picked
plants. The aim of the workshop is to emphasize the importance of preserving
our natural and cultural heritage, and promoting agriculture in harmony with
nature.
