These are this year’s recipients of the Women on Women Award
On Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the City of Women Association for the Promotion of Women in Culture – City of Women, we announced the winners of the award for feminist heroines – the Women on Women Award.
This year, a three-member jury selected five winners from more than 300 nominations! The recipients of the Women on Women Award are:

• Kristina Božič
• Lilijana Burcar
• Gibanje za svobodo Palestincev (Movement for Palestinian Freedom)
• Društvo ZIZ
The awards were presented on March 6, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Klub Monokel. Typically, the jury is composed of five previous winners, but this year a reduced panel had to decide as Tjaša Črnigoj and Dijana Matković withdrew – the former before the decision-making began, the latter midway through the process. Responsibility for the final selection was then assumed by Ula Kranjc Kušlan, a member of the Rejv Utopija collective, along with Sonja Lokar and Tea Hvala.
The criteria used this year were: first, in addition to cisgender individuals, trans and intersex nominees who identify as women were considered; second, priority was given to socially engaged yet underrecognized work, especially that which takes place outside of Ljubljana; third, nominees active in a wide range of fields were taken into account, particularly in areas where awards are not usually given; fourth, if both a group and an individual were nominated from the same field, the group was chosen; and fifth, among group nominations, a grassroots initiative was preferred over an established institution.
"Based on these criteria, we selected three individuals and two groups. Each, in its own way, draws attention to overlooked people and silenced perspectives, thereby giving space not only to them but also to everyone who wishes to imagine and explore possibilities for a more just and dignified life – a life in peace, not in war."
